Assuring High availability Utilities
Utilities generation and distribution are an integral part of production processes. The operation and maintenance of this equipment is vital to manufacturing competitiveness. Veolia are specialists in the management of utilities and infrastructure assets.
Veolia Industries Global Solutions offer a full spectrum of services for industrial utilities operations and maintenance either individually or as an integrated package. Our integrated approach, combined with a high degree of internal expertise allows our clients to benefit from what we call Integrated Utilities Management or IUM, considering their utilities infrastructure as an ecosystem of energy, water and waste to be optimised, increasing value and maximising available uptime.

Examples of key systems below:
Thermal and Cooling Utilities
From individual boilers for steam production with associated distribution and heat exchange systems to large scale, CHP, centralised/district heating systems or hot water production and delivery units our expertise simplifies our clients’ operations and compliance obligations and strongly contributes to the performance of the site. When providing cooling and refrigeration services whether for environmental control or process cooling our experience spans from cooling towers to ultra cold chilling systems and energy recovery units.
HVAC
Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems are at the centre of many production and working environments throughout industry and represent a combination of heat, energy and air control systems with enormous potential to influence the cost and energy usage of a business as well as the implication for occupant comfort as well as regulatory compliance in some industries. By adopting an integrated view of the energy and cost balance within HVAC systems Veolia have been able to substantially reduce the overall cost of use on sites where we operate while improving comfort levels and working conditions for staff on site.
Gas and Air Utilities
The use of pneumatic controls is widespread in industry and the production, storage and distribution of compressed air represents a significant cost and an opportunity to generate savings. The increasing use of specialist gases places additional requirements on maintenance and operations organisations with additional production, storage and distribution systems for instance PSA plant for nitrogen.
Water Systems
The production and distribution of water and treatment of production wastewaters are areas where Veolia can rightly claim global leadership. From High Purity Water systems - for Pharmaceutical, Electronics and precision industries to Process Water systems - ensuring in-process uniformity, or high quality boiler feed, thermal transfer fluids and corrosion protection we have the ability inhouse to design, build, operate and maintain systems throughout the water cycle - Water extraction, purification, storage, distribution, reuse or treatment as process effluent in a wastewater treatment plant. Mastery of all parts of the process enables Veolia to identify the best areas for improvement.
Electrical Utilities
With longstanding experience in operating and maintaining large industrial equipment and sites, Veolia has the skills to provide services for the full range of electrical installations, from legacy systems to modern and from low voltage to high tension. We optimise the reliability of all electrical supply from transformers, through switching, circuit breakers and distribution, down to energy consumers. Through resilience-studies we identify useful optimisations to deliver continuous improvements and we ensure regulatory compliance of networks as well as facilities (LV distribution, lighting and emergency lighting, PAT).
Data monitoring and energy management is used to support sustainability objectives and minimise energy bills.
Safety systems (Fire, security, emergency lighting) are maintained and tested in line with regulations and manufacturer’s requirements and all work is carried out by authorised personnel using approved methods. Automated Switching systems, backup systems, emergency generators and UPS are regularly tested and maintained in accordance with approved procedures and kept in readiness.
Waste related services
We offer tailored services to specific industries with a view to minimising waste and maximising the potential benefit of rational waste strategies such as reduction, reuse and recycling through direct means or transformation through recovery or incineration.
Our specialist solutions and services have been successfully applied in a variety of industries from pharmaceutical, chemical and electronic manufacturing to food and beverage industries as well as general manufacturing industries.
